San Francisco is renowned for its open and diverse vibe. From its extensive array of thrift shops, to the lively alternative music scene, the city certainly puts the hip in hipster.

However, if drinking cocktails out of a jam jar isn’t your thing, then there are other places in San Francisco that you can head to for a great night out.

The Marina Triangle is one such area. Known for trendy boutiques and bars, this part of Frisco is the perfect place for a party.

Here’s a few cool venues to get you going.

But before we start….

As it is against the law to sell alcohol after 2am in San Francisco, the clubs and bars tend to wind down around this time.

To combat this, the drinking culture starts much earlier with many happy hours getting going between 3 and 5pm. So head out early, pace yourself and bask in the glorious San Fran sunshine.

Eastside West

This chic gastro-pub is a great place to kick off your day. The bar food is great and the happy hour is even better. Boasting a range of craft beers and cocktails, Eastside West ensures no one will go thirsty, whatever your tipple.

Balboa Cafe

Over the road from ESW, you’ll find Balboa Cafe – one of the oldest saloon bars in San Fran.

The interior of Balboa’s has remained largely unchanged since it was founded in 1913, making it easy to picture revellers grooving away behind closed doors in the Roaring Twenties.

Balboa’s stylish menu means that this is a great place to grab an upmarket dinner before you head on to the clubs later on.

Take the bar’s own advice: “Eat, drink and make merry.”

The Comet Club, Gravity and HiFi Lounge

There are plenty of places to go once your dinner has settled and you’re ready to hit the dancefloor, and the three venues above are a perfect example of this.

For a very upmarket experience, head to Gravity where the cocktails are excellent and the mood is more laid back and ambient.

If you fancy something a little more raucous, HiFi Lounge is the place for you – it’s basically wall-to-wall with carefree party goers. Likewise at the Comet Club, the DJ keeps the dancefloor full with popular classics while the bar provides an array of interesting drinks.

San Francisco’s culture ensures that every taste is catered to for in terms of drinking and eating. Whatever you are after from a night out, you are likely to find it in the City by the Bay.
