Dominica calls itself ‘The Nature Island’ and it is not hard to see why. Its landscape is rough and rugged and is an explorer’s paradise with its rainforest, mountains and an amazing 365 rivers, which ebb and flow themselves throughout this stunning island.

Description

It is the largest of the Windward islands and its climate is distinctly tropical – a climate of rain and heat is the norm, which helps its spectacular and diverse vegetation to thrive.

Because of its geothermal activity, there are lots of sulphur springs and bubbling pots on the island. One of the best to visit is the Boiling Lake in Morne Trois Pitons National Park, which bubbles up like a witch’s cauldron and is accessed via a 2-4 hour walk from the village of Laudat. Most activities on the island do require a certain level of fitness but if you’re looking for something a little less active, hop on a boat tour along the Indian River for a relaxing and peaceful way to spend a couple hours. The river is lined with mangroves and home to a great variety of bird life and vegetation.

There are some fabulous hotels on the island, which provide the perfect base from which to discover the natural beauty of the island. Please give us a call so we can discuss your requirements.
