The magnificent Kruger National Park is situated in the north east of South Africa and covers an area of nearly 20,000 square kilometres. Kruger National Park is most famous for its ‘Big Five’ inhabitants (that is, the Rhino, Elephant, Lion, Leopard and Cape Buffalo) but it is also home to an amazing array of other mammals, birds, reptiles and vegetation.

Description

Visitors can stay within the National Park itself or in one of the surrounding game reserves. Accommodation ranges from simple and rustic to ultra-luxurious, offering a perfect place to rest after a hard day’s exploration on safari. The park has 9 main entrance gates and game rangers will whisk you off on an open sided vehicle to track down wildlife and offer their profound knowledge about the Park’s environment and inhabitants.

Kruger National Park can be enjoyed at any time of the year, but if you are intent on seeing the maximum number of animals, the best time to visit is during the winter (i.e May to October) when it is dry and the animals are attracted to the waterholes to drink. When the summer rain arrives from November to April, Kruger becomes lush and green, making spotting animals a bit more difficult, although it is a bird-watcher’s paradise.

Holidays to Kruger National Park are perfect for those seeking excitement and adventure, but with the added bonus of luxury lodges offering an ideal place to chill out after your game trips. Why not combine Kruger with a trip to Mauritius or another idyllic beach location to make a wonderful safari-beach twin-centre holiday?
