✈️ UK – Las Vegas (3 nights): Fly from your chosen UK airport to Las Vegas, where you will be met on arrival and transferred to your hotel for a 3 night stay. Known for its bright lights and iconic Strip, Las Vegas is also the perfect gateway to the American Southwest. Spend your time exploring the famous hotels and attractions, or take a day trip out to nearby Red Rock Canyon for a first taste of the region’s dramatic landscapes.
🚗 Las Vegas – Grand Canyon (2 nights): Collect your hire car and begin your road trip to the Grand Canyon (approx. 4.5 hours). Stay for 2 nights near the South Rim, allowing time to fully appreciate one of the world’s most famous natural wonders. Walk sections of the rim trail, take in sunrise or sunset views, or upgrade to a helicopter flight for a completely different perspective.
🚗 Grand Canyon – Monument Valley (1 night): Continue your journey through the desert landscapes of Arizona towards Monument Valley (approx. 3 hours). En route, you can visit Antelope Canyon, famous for its sculpted sandstone walls and light beams, a must-see with a guided tour. Arrive in Monument Valley for a 1 night stay, where the vast red mesas and buttes create one of the most iconic scenes of the American West.
🚗 Monument Valley – Moab (4 nights): Travel north into Utah towards Moab (approx. 2.5 hours), your base for exploring some of the USA’s most spectacular national parks. Over 4 nights, discover Arches National Park, known for its natural stone arches, and Canyonlands National Park, offering vast canyon views and fewer crowds. There’s also the option to explore further afield, with Mesa Arch at sunrise, Dead Horse Point State Park, and scenic drives along the Colorado River all within easy reach.
🚗 Moab – Denver (2 nights): Continue your road trip east to Denver (approx. 6 hours), with the scenery gradually shifting from desert landscapes to the Rocky Mountains. Spend 2 nights in Denver, a vibrant city known for its craft breweries, dining scene and easy access to the mountains. You may also wish to take a day trip into Rocky Mountain National Park for alpine scenery and wildlife spotting.
✈️ Denver – UK: Return your hire car and fly back to the UK.
Optional additions:
This itinerary can be extended to include Zion and Bryce Canyon between Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon, or Page/Lake Powell for a more relaxed visit to Antelope Canyon. For those looking to visit The Wave, additional nights in the Page or Kanab area would be required due to permit restrictions.
