✈️ UK – Johannesburg (1 night): Touching down in South Africa, your journey begins in the vibrant city of Johannesburg. You might choose to unwind by the pool, explore the local neighbourhoods, or simply soak up the atmosphere of this dynamic city.
🚗 Johannesburg – Kruger National Park (2 nights): Set off early for your drive to Kruger National Park, arriving in time for lunch before heading out on your first open 4WD safari. Experience close encounters with wild animals in their natural habitat and, if you’re lucky, spot lions, elephants, rhinos and leopards.
The next morning you will depart early for a sunrise game drive, as it’s the best time to see Africa’s iconic wildlife at its most active. Stop at a picnic spot to enjoy your packed breakfast before continuing on a full-day safari, pausing at waterholes and scenic lookouts. One of the largest game reserves in Southern Africa, Kruger is home to the Big Five, along with over 500 bird species, 100 reptile species and 150 mammal species. You may also encounter endangered African wild dogs, hippos, zebras, giraffes and numerous types of antelope. The park’s diverse habitats, from savanna to acacia woodland and rocky hills make it a wildlife haven. Return to your lodge in the evening and unwind to the sounds of the bush as day turns to night.
✈️ Kruger – Victoria Falls (2 nights): Rise early and transfer to Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport for your flight to Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe. On arrival, enjoy spectacular views of the surrounding wilderness and perhaps spot elephants or buffalo at nearby waterholes. Later, you may wish to take a scenic dinner cruise along the Zambezi River.
Victoria Falls is one of the world’s most awe-inspiring natural wonders, plunging over 100 metres into a deep gorge. With an expert guide, explore the lush rainforest trails, learn about the local flora, fauna and history, and capture incredible photos of “The Smoke that Thunders”.
🚗 Victoria Falls – Chobe National Park (2 nights): Enjoy a leisurely morning before crossing the Kazungula border into Botswana and travelling to Chobe National Park. Once you arrive, you can take a walk around Kasane town (keep an eye out for wandering warthogs!), relax by the Chobe River at sunset, or join an optional afternoon game drive.
The following morning, head out early on a game drive through Chobe, Botswana’s first designated national park. Renowned for its huge populations of elephants and buffalo, it’s common to see them drinking at the river’s edge. Later, embark on a cruise along the Chobe River, a wonderful way to spot birdlife such as saddle-billed storks, malachite kingfishers, fish eagles and bee-eaters, as well as hippos, crocodiles and elephants crossing between the banks.
✈️ Chobe – UK: Your South African adventure comes to an end, though you might wish to extend your journey with a stay in the Indian Ocean, the perfect way to unwind on white-sand beaches while reflecting on your unforgettable experience.
