✈️ UK – Athens (3 nights): Start with three days in Athens, where you can explore the city’s fascinating ancient past alongside its vibrant modern energy. Climb up to the Acropolis, home to the 5th-century BC Parthenon, follow the tree-lined Archaeological Promenade linking the city’s major historic sites, and visit the impressive New Acropolis Museum. Don’t miss Plaka, Athens’ oldest residential quarter to discover a maze of cobbled lanes lined with pastel-coloured neoclassical mansions, cafés and traditional tavernas. On the edge of the city lies the Athenian Riviera, a stretch of palm-lined esplanades and idyllic beaches where you can unwind by the sea. 🚗 Athens – Tripoli (2 nights): From Athens, head onto the nearby Peloponnese peninsula, a region steeped in mythology and the birthplace of the Olympic Games. At its centre lies Tripoli, the ancient capital of Arcadia, where you can experience traditional Greek hospitality and local character.
🚗 Tripoli – Pylos (2 nights): Next, drive to the lovely seaside town of Pylos, one of Greece’s most attractive coastal destinations. Its lively main square sits on the waterfront, flanked by two castles overlooking the bay, the perfect spot for an evening drink or a relaxed meal by the sea. With two nights here, you’ll also have time to visit the nearby Palace of Nestor, one of the best-preserved Mycenaean sites in Greece.
🚗 Pylos – Stoupa (1 night): Continue to the peaceful seaside village of Stoupa, famed for having some of the best beaches in the Peloponnese. With golden sand and relaxed beach bars, it’s ideal for unwinding, though the area also offers scenic coastal walks and visits to Byzantine churches and traditional stone tower houses.
🚗 Stoupa – Monemvasia (2 nights): Your next stop is Monemvasia, a spectacular fortified town perched on a vast rock rising dramatically from the sea. Connected to the mainland by a single causeway, this medieval settlement feels like stepping back in time. Within its ancient walls, you’ll find cobbled lanes, historic churches and breathtaking views over the Aegean.
🚗 Monemvasia – Sparti (2 nights): From Monemvasia, journey to Sparti, home of the legendary Spartan warriors. Modern Sparta is a town layered with history, surrounded by ancient ruins and olive groves. It’s also the gateway to the nearby Byzantine citadel of Mystras, where you can explore frescoed churches, an imposing palace and atmospheric hillside ruins.
🚗 Sparti – Nafplio (2 nights): Your final destination is Nafplio, one of Greece’s prettiest and most romantic towns. Overlooked by the imposing Palamidi Fortress, Nafplio charms visitors with its narrow streets, elegant Venetian houses, neoclassical mansions and lively cafés. Popular with Athenians, the town offers a wonderful mix of history, shopping and relaxed seaside dining – a perfect place to end your journey.
✈️ Nafplio – UK: After two memorable nights in Nafplio, you’ll have completed your circular road trip of the Peloponnese. It’s just a short drive back to Athens for your flight home to the UK.
