Combining the natural beauty of Table Mountain and its pristine beaches with a thriving culinary scene, it’s a great place to start your adventure. You can enjoy fresh seafood, award-winning local wines, and innovative dining in stylish restaurants across the city, including the stunning beachfront restaurants of Camps Bay and the vibrant V&A Waterfront. Also explore the Cape Peninsula’s dramatic coastline, sampling wines at nearby estates, or by visiting the charming markets for artisanal treats. Beyond the food and wine, Cape Town offers lots of wonderful sightseeing experiences such as visiting the penguins at Boulders Beach, heading to the summit of Table Mountain via cable car, diving with sharks, or soaking up history on a boat trip to Robben Island.
🚗 Cape Town – Hermanus (2 nights): Next, you’ll drive to Hermanus, a coastal city known for some of best land-based whale watching in the world. This is especially true during the Southern Right whales’ annual migration which runs from June to November. One of the best viewing places is from the Cliff Path, where you can often see these majestic creatures just offshore against the stunning backdrop of the ocean. Beyond the whales, Hermanus is rapidly gaining a reputation as a food and wine hotspot. Sip on a glass of crisp white or elegant red from one of the terraced vineyards or boutique wineries as you soak in the ocean views. Visit a farmers’ market to pick up some fresh produce, or had to one of the intimate restaurants in town where you can enjoy fresh seafood including fresh fish, oysters, mussels, and prawns, accompanied by the local wines. Also make sure you visit Voëlklip Beach and Klipgat Cave and explore the galleries and artisanal shops.
🚗 Hermanus – Safari Lodge (2 nights): Immerse yourself in the wild side of South Africa with two nights at a safari lodge of your choice. While the focus here is on unforgettable game drives and spotting the Big Five, many lodges also offer exceptional culinary experiences. This includes enjoying expertly prepared meals, often served alfresco beneath the stars, showcasing local ingredients paired with South African wines. Your lodge will be the base for daily game drives led by expert rangers, giving you the chance to spot lions, leopards, rhinos, elephants, and buffalos in their natural habitat.
