Location: Caneel Bay is situated on a 170-acre peninsula on the US Virgin island of St John and within the stunning Virgin Islands National Park. Ferries that take you to the island depart from St. Thomas airport at regular intervals throughout the day.

Facilities: The hotel’s location gives way to an abundance of water sports with complimentary use of non-motorised equipment including sail boats, kayaks, paddle boards and snorkelling gear. There is also a dive centre for those wishing to discover a bit more of the underwater life. Alternatively, relax at the hotel’s outdoor pool or challenge someone to a game of tennis on one of Caneel Bay’s 10 tennis courts. For total relaxation, book a massage at one of the massage cabanas. Children are well catered for at the Turtle Town kids club (ages 3-11).

Bars and restaurants: Onsite dining at Caneel Bay is first class, offering guests a multiple of options so that you never need to leave the resort. Turtle Bay Estate House offers ‘classical and creative American’ cuisine in a stunningly elegant setting. For something more informal, the Beach Bar and Grill serves up burgers, sandwiches and sushi and offers a place where you can catch up on the news and sports on big screens. Zozo’s offers exquisite Italian food, while the Beach Terrace features panoramic views and alfresco buffet dining. There is also an ice cream and coffee shop onsite.

Rooms: The hotel describes its 166 guest rooms as ‘casual luxury’.
