Mamma Mia Greek Twin Centre

Mamma Mia is filmed on the Greek islands of Skiathos and Skopelos. Located in the Sporades, the islands boast some of Greece’s most famous soft and sandy beaches, still unspoilt and surrounded by offerings of unpretentious local cuisine. Skiathos is the slightly livelier of the two with a greater offering of nightlife and watersports.

4 Nights – Skiathos
3 Nights – Skopelos

✈️ UK – Skiathos (4 nights): Skiathos offers crystal-clear waters, golden beaches and a wealth of fantastic tavernas and cafés, the perfect start to your trip. The Old Port will look familiar as the spot where Sam (Pierce Brosnan), Bill (Stellan Skarsgård) and Harry (Colin Firth) first meet while rushing for the boat to attend Sophie (Amanda Seyfried)’s wedding. Once you’ve taken in the views from the Port, take a short walk to Agios Nikolaos to relive the moment Sophie sends her wedding invitations to her three potential fathers. A short journey from Skiathos Town takes you to another Mamma Mia filming location, Damouhari Port, which provided the backdrop for Donna (Meryl Streep)’s lively performance of “Dancing Queen.”

⛴️ Skiathos – Skopelos (3 nights): Just an hour’s ferry ride from Skiathos lies Skopelos, which hosted the bulk of filming for the first Mamma Mia! movie. The story begins to unfold in Glysteri, a small coastal village where Sophie shares her mother’s diary with her friends. Glysteri Beach also appears in the film, it’s where Sophie, Harry, Bill and Sam leap into the water during “Our Last Summer.” Although this section of shoreline isn’t easily accessible to tourists, it’s a beautiful spot to view from the water.

Another key location is Kastani Beach, where Tanya (Christine Baranski) delivers her iconic rendition of “Does Your Mother Know?” Its soft white sands, turquoise water and charming beach bar make it an idyllic place to unwind. Take a break from the beach one day and head up to Agios Ioannis, a traditional Greek chapel perched 100 metres above sea level atop 93 stone steps carved into the rock face. This breathtaking setting was used for the film’s famous wedding-not-wedding finale between Sophie and Sky.

✈️ Skopelos – UK: Once you’ve finished exploring the film locations and relaxing on Skopelos’ stunning beaches, we’ll take you back to Skiathos for your flight home to the UK.
