Itinerary
3 Nights – Copenhagen
3 Nights – Stockholm
3 Nights – Oslo
✈️ UK to Copenhagen (3 nights): You’ll start your journey in the Danish capital of Copenhagen – widely deemed as one of the top foodie destinations in Europe. The city boasts two of the world’s best restaurants: Geranium, perched on the eighth floor with stunning park views and locally inspired tasting menus. And Noma, with its legendary focus on foraged Nordic ingredients such as wild herbs, seaweed, and berries. Beyond these Michelin gems, Copenhagen’s food culture is fresh and varied. Stroll along the colourful waterfront of Nyhavn for classic Danish smørrebrød or visit the Torvehallerne food market to sample fresh seafood, artisan cheeses, and freshly baked pastries. For a trendy night out, explore the lively Meatpacking District (Kødbyen), where you’ll find innovative restaurants and bars in a modern industrial setting. And for a late-night snack, enjoy Danish street food including hot dogs topped with crispy onions and pickles in Vesterbro. For a more laid-back vibe, the canal-side cafes and restaurants of Christianshavn offer the perfect setting to soak up the relaxed atmosphere.
✈️ Copenhagen to Stockholm (3 nights): Next you’ll take a short flight to Stockholm, the beautiful capital of Sweden. One of the most enjoyable ways to explore the city is through its food. From cafés and busy food halls to high-end restaurants, you’ll find a delicious mix of flavours. Swedish staples such as tender meatballs, fresh gravlax, and open-faced sandwiches are easy to find, but no visit is complete without experiencing fika. It’s a daily ritual where locals slow down for coffee and a sweet treat, something along the lines of a cinnamon or cardamom bun. It’s a small moment of mindfulness accompanied by something delicious. One of the most iconic places to enjoy fika is at Vete-Katten in Norrmalm, a Stockholm institution since it opened its doors in 1928.
For cool cafes and independent bakeries, head to the bohemian Södermalm, where you can also enjoy scenic views from Monteliusvägen and the nearby historic streets of Gamla Stan (the Old Town), where you can also visit the Royal Palace. For a taste of Stockholm’s market scene, explore Östermalms Saluhall or Hötorgshallen, ideal spots to sample everything from cured salmon to artisanal cheeses and fresh bread. If you’re after something heartier, grab a beer and some classic Swedish food at Pelikan, a traditional beer hall in Södermalm with an olde-worlde atmosphere. For something more refined, Stockholm boasts several acclaimed Michelin-starred restaurants that push the boundaries of New Nordic cuisine.
✈️ Stockholm to Oslo: For the final leg of your Scandinavian adventure, you’ll hop back on the plane to head for the Norwegian capital of Oslo. Tucked between fjords and forests, Oslo’s city centre may be compact, but it’s a true playground for food lovers and very walkable. A great place to start is the Grünerløkka. Here you’ll find everything from award-winning bakeries and microbreweries to vintage shops and a never-ending lineup of cafés and bars. Grab a craft IPA at Grünerløkka Brygghus or head to Tim Wendelboe, an espresso haven run by one of the world’s best baristas. Aker Brygge’s waterfront is also a lovely spot to eat, with a lively atmosphere, plenty of outdoor seating, stunning views over the Oslo fjord, and a wide range of restaurants, from fresh seafood and classic Norwegian cuisine to trendy bistros. Oslo’s food halls offer plenty of variety too: Mathallen is the go-to for Nordic delicacies and international small plates, Maschmanns Foodmarket offers up deli treats such as smoked salmon and fine chocolates, while Vippa’s waterfront food trucks serve up global street food against the backdrop of the fjord. For something a little more special, book a table at Maaemo, Oslo’s three-Michelin-starred restaurant where Nordic cuisine is innovatively celebrated using local, organic ingredients.
But Oslo isn’t just about food. The city is also packed with incredible architecture and culture. The Oslo Opera House, inspired by a glistening iceberg, sits on the waterfront and offers fabulous views from its marble roof. And art lovers will want to visit MUNCH, a striking museum that houses the world’s largest Edvard Munch collection, complete with a rooftop restaurant.
✈️ Oslo to UK: Having experienced the best food and drink in your hat-trick of Scandinavian cities, you’ll head back to the UK.
