The Rocky Mountains are a sight to behold, with majestic ice capped peaks, stunning glaciers and beautiful lakes.

Description

Calgary is the entry point to the Rockies and is known for its famous stampede, but it also has many other attractions, including parks, museums and gardens.

Banff’s impressive mountain backdrop is what makes the town really stand out. It’s also only a small town so it’s easy to wander around and explore its various shops and restaurants. The Banff National Park where the town is situated, is one of the county’s oldest national parks and boasts some of North America’s most stunning scenery. The hiking trails offer the best routes to explore the area, however to get a great view of the park take the Banff Gondola up to the top of Sulphur Mountain. If you’re visiting in winter, Banff is also one of Canada’s most popular ski resorts, so you can get out on your skis to explore the region.

Lake Louise is one of Canada’s most photographed locations and is truly breath-taking. Startlingly blue waters, backed by towering ice-capped peaks, with Chateau Lake Louise at one end, and then wilderness stretching out in in all directions – this is a place where you can be at one with nature. One of the best activities to do here is lace up your hiking boots and tackle the lofty summits around you. There’s also the chance to hire kayaks and get out on Lake Louise herself. Just around the corner there’s also Moraine Lake and the Valley of the Ten Peaks, another of Canada’s most epic beauty spots.

Jasper is a quiet mountain town with a reputation for high-quality food. Jasper is all about the great outdoors, and the Jasper National Park is full of incredible sights. Visiting the glacier has to be top of your list, and you even can get on to the ice with the Ice Explorer to really appreciate it in all its glory. Athabasca Falls is also a must-see attraction, with its clear, blue waters standing as a timely reminder of nature’s raw power. During the warmer summer months the area comes alive with hikers and when you’re done trekking in the wilderness, take the time to relax in one of the town’s many spas or take nine holes on the green.
