Chimps & Gorillas of Rwanda

Description

Day 1 > Nairobi (1 night)
After your safari in Kenya or Tanzania, you will be transferred to the Ole Sereni Hotel in Nairobi, where you will stay for 1 night.

Day 2 > 4 Nyungwe National Park – Chimps (2 nights)

Day 2: In the morning, you will be taken to the airport for your flight to Kigale. Once there, you will be driven to Huye for lunch, approximately a 2 hour 30 minutes’ drive (150km). If time permits, you can visit the Rwanda National Museum. You will then be driven to Nyungwe National Park for arrival at your chosen accommodation.

Day 3: You will depart early in the morning for a hike in Nyungwe Forest for your search for chimpanzees. You may also come across colobus monkeys and an array of forest birdlife. There is time to relax in the afternoon at the Lodge or enjoy other optional activities.

Day 4 > Lake Kivu (1 night)

In the morning, you will be taken to the beautiful Lake Kivu, one of Africa’s great lakes. You will stay in your chosen accommodation and take an optional boat ride to visit nearby islands if time permits.

Day 5 > 6 Parc National des Volcans – Gorillas (2 nights)

Day 5: After spending the morning at Lake Kivu, you will be driven to Musanze in the northwest of Rwanda which is a 4 hours 30 minutes’ (approx.) drive (170km) where you will arrive at your chosen accommodation.

Day 6: You will have a very early morning start for your gorilla trekking in the Parc National des Volcans. The duration of the treks vary according to which gorilla group you are assigned to. After approximately an hour in the company of the mighty gorillas, you will return back down the volcano slopes and back to the Lodge for lunch and an afternoon of relaxation.

Day 7 > Nairobi

You will be driven to Kigali (approx.2 hours and 30 minutes) where you will fly to Nairobi for your onward journey.
