Description

The beautiful city of Udaipur, in the north western part of Rajasthan, is famed for being ‘The Venice of the East’ with its stunning interconnected lakes. The Udaipur City Palace is one of the largest palaces in Rajasthan and is a must-go if you are in the region.

The small holy city of Pushkar is a serene place to visit with its whitewashed buildings, strikingly beautiful temples and tranquil lake.

Another highlight of this region is the walled city of Jodhpur, the second largest city in Rajasthan after Jaipur. Famed for its blue-hued buildings, it is often referred to the ‘Blue City’ or the ‘Sun City’ for the number of sunny days it is fortunate to experience each year. There are splendid palaces, forts and museums to visit, one of the major sights being the grand Mehrangarh Fort which imposingly stands 125 metres above the city.

Also whilst in the region a visit to Ranthambhore National Park in the south east of the state is highly recommended. Its one of the best places to spot the majestic tiger, but is also home to over 40 species of animals. Stay in a luxury lodge on the edge of the park and breathe in the jungle air.
