Itinerary

3 Nights – Venice
3 Nights – Florence
3 Nights – Rome
5 Nights – Sorrento

✈  UK – Venice (3 Nights): We will first fly you from the UK to Venice, then meet you at the airport to take you to your first hotel, where you will stay for the following 3 nights. Built on 188 islands and 177 canals, Venice is a wonderful place to simply wander through its small traffic-free streets and alongside its network of canals, taking in the city’s treasures such as the Bridge of Sighs, the Rialto Bridge, St Mark’s square and the Palazzo Ducale. Getting around Venice on foot is easy, but if you need to get somewhere quickly there are plenty of water taxis, or for the ultimate romantic treat, take a gondola ride with a serenading gondolier. For a spot of contemporary art, visit the Guggenheim museum with its quirky yet accessible collection of modern art.

🚂Venice – Florence (3 Nights): On your final day in Venice, you will take the train from Venice to Florence (approx. 2-hour journey) where you will stay for 3 nights. Situated on the banks of the Arno river, Florence is the birthplace of the Renaissance and is an art-lover’s dream, being home to a number of world-class art galleries such as the Uffizi Gallery which has an amazing collection of Renaissance sculptures and paintings by the likes of da Vinci, Francesca and Botticelli. You can also see famous works of art at the Palatina Gallery and the Accademia Gallery, which has Michelangelo’s masterpiece ‘David’ and many other stunning works of art. A large part of Florence is pedestrianised, so perfect for exploring on foot. Take in the sights of the Piazza della Signoria, the Palazzo Vecchio and the Piazza del Duomo whilst enjoying this beautifully preserved mediaeval city. Another ‘must-see’ is the Basilica di San Miniato al Monte which is situated just outside the city, on the top of a hill, but is well worth the trip for the incredible views and architecture.

🚂Florence – Rome (3 Nights): On your last day in Florence, you will take the train to Rome (approx. 2-hour journey) where you will spend the next 3 nights of your holiday, exploring this wonderful capital city. From the architectural treasures of the Colosseum, the Pantheon, Saint Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican City, the Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps, you will have no trouble filling your days in Rome! Aside from these fabulous landmarks, Rome is a wonderful place to amble in and out of the stunning piazzas and little side streets, stopping for an espresso every now and again to watch the world go by!

🚂Rome – Sorrento (5 Nights): On your last day in Rome, you will take a train ride from Rome to Naples where we will transfer you to your hotel in Sorrento (car hire also available), where you will stay for your last 5 nights. Once you have settled into your accommodation you will be free to explore this elegant resort, with its abundance of Mediterranean charm, spellbinding views, delightful piazzas, boutique shopping and al fresco dining. The old town is a wonderful place to wander, with its cobbled streets and pretty buildings. Highlights are the bell tower, the monastery and the Church of San Francesco. Sorrento is an ideal place from which to explore other parts of the coastline, including the towns of Amalfi, Positano and Ravello. Also, just a 40-minute trip away is the fascinating ancient Roman city of Pompeii, destroyed by a volcanic eruption in 76 AD and now a major tourist site offering visitors the chance to see the excavated remains of sites such as the Thermal baths, Lupanar, Vetti’s house and the Forum. Also a visit to the glamorous islands of Capri and Ischia is highly recommended.

✈ Sorrento –UK: On your final day in Sorrento, you will either drive to Naples airport to drop off your hire car, or if you don’t have a car we’ll transfer you there. You’ll then fly back to the UK.
