The craft beer scene in America is exploding like an over-shaken can of ale at the moment. In fact, the popularity of this type of tasty alcoholic beverage is even giving the likes of Budweiser a run for its money, with meticulously prepared malts recently helping contribute to a nine per cent drop in the King of Beers’ shipments in the US, according to the Wall Street Journal.

To celebrate this real-ale revolution, we’ve put together a list of some of the top US bars that are dedicated to spreading the hallowed, hoppy word or good beer. Grab a cold one and enjoy!

Bangers and Lace, Chicago

The latter part of this bar’s name is a tribute to the foamy residue left behind after a thoroughly enjoyed beer (Belgian Lace) and the former is, well, a sausage.

With 32 hand pumps to sample and the ‘six pack’ tasting option of the day’s tastiest and sometimes most peculiar beers, ale-lovers won’t be left dry in this establishment.

Blind Tiger, New York

Going since 1995, Blind Tiger was serving up glasses of lovingly-created craft beer before it was even called craft beer.

The old-school feel is still apparent in the wooden décor and chalk-board-laden walls, creating the perfect place to sample a few of the bar’s extensive and meticulously put together draught list.

38 Degrees Ale House & Grill, Alhambra

Alhambra’s 38 Degrees Ale House came top of the Pacific section in the CraftBeer.com’s 2014 Great American Beer Bars Results, so you know it has to be good.

Easily reachable from Los Angeles, this bar is one of the best craft beer specialists on the west coast, and the food is pretty special as well. Many of the bar’s ales are from surrounding California so you get a real taste of local brewing.

Falling Rock, Denver

Another winner in the above awards, the Falling Rock Tap House is a beer-lover’s dream. There are no frills here, just plenty of individual ales.

The list and variety of ales is nothing short of ridiculous, with the menu being split into different types. Whether you like your beer dark, pale or amber, there’s an ale here with your name on it.
