Thai lsland Gems With only two seasons in the year southern Thailand has temperatures ranging between an average of 23°C and 33°C. The hottest months are between November to April and the rainy season is from May to October. There is always a breeze blowing and even in the wetter months you will still see lots of sunshine Khao Lak & Phi Phi islands are beautiful beach resorts popular for scuba diving and snorkelling, or you can take a long tail boat ride to explore the other islands. Khao Lak forms an area of protected national park so you can go walking or elephant trekking and take in the views by the waterfalls. Phi Phi islands has many powder beaches to chill out and relax, even have a massage whilst soaking up the sun. Koh Lanta/Koh Chang/Trang, these small islands offer buddhist Temples and traditional Thai houses. They offer beautiful beaches on the coast and inland you can trek through the mountains, see the waterfalls, canals, and caves. Traditional Thai dinning is on the beach followed by some laid back bars, some offering live music. Throughout southern Thailand fresh seafood is served in a unique southern Thai style, they like to use plenty of herbs, garlic, chilli, lemon and lime. You can eat out for very little money, the average main course is approx £3 - £5. The local beer is Singha and costs about 30 - 50 pence a bottle in most places. Shopping is mainly in the locals stalls on the beaches and the street, offering hand crafted wood and woven silk. The Kingdom of Thailand was known until 1939 as ‘Siam’, a mysterious land full of wonder and amazement founded in the 13th century. The modern duty name for the Siamese people is ‘Thai’ meaning ‘Free’. Thailand has a colourful history and its people ancestry can be traced back to southern China when the Mongol hordes conquered the Chinese and the people migrated south. Thailand has a strong Buddhist influence which can be seen amongst the many breathtaking temples. The teachings of Buddha go some way to experiencing the culture of these laid back, friendly people. Phi Phi Islands are about 40 km from Phuket and Krabi. The area of Phi Phi Islands covers 6 islets altogether, these are Phi Phi Don, Phi Phi Le, Bida Nok, Mai Phai, Yung, and Bida Nai. Khao Lak is located north of Phuket, both areas are linked to the Phang-nga province Koh Lanta is located in the Krabi province, it covers an area of 339,843 sq km. Koh Chang is located in the east in the province of Trat it covers an area of 154.8sq km. Trang is its own province and is located about 828km from Bangkok, it covers an area of 4,917,519 sq km |
