Location: The Serengeti is approximately 325km by road (or an eight hour drive) from Arusha, which in turn is only around 50km from Kilimanjaro International Airport. Alternatively, you can fly from Arusha directly into the Serengeti. The migration camp is based in the extremely quiet northern corridor of the Serengeti.
Description: Less than 1% of tourists come to this part of the Serengeti, attracted instead by more well-known regions such as the Masai Mara, meaning you are left in relative seclusion to enjoy the true nature of the Serengeti.
July and November are the best months to visit the region, as these are peak periods of migration, although lions and hippo make this their home all year round.
Although accommodation is described as “tented”, there’s nothing basic about this resort. It has a swimming pool, and numerous areas of decking on which you can dine whilst looking out over the Ndasiata Hills.
Accommodation: There are twenty luxury tents, built up on decks. All have king or twin beds, leather armchairs, private verandah and ensuite bathroom.
Our Opinion: Serengeti Migration Camp gives more than a passing nod to olde worlde splendour, glamour and sophistication. Not overly pretentious, yet offering a high standard of luxury, it offers a welcome stay.
