Location: Situated in northern Tanzania, on the eastern edge of the Serengeti, the Nogorongoro Crater is a famous collapsed volcano, on the rim of which sits Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge. Flights are 40 minutes by air from Arusha, followed by a 45 minute drive to the lodge.
Description: Guests can expect first class service whilst staying at this resort, being met with a hot towel and refreshments upon arrival. The lodge has the only swimming pool on the rim of the crater and it certainly hasn’t forgotten the needs of modern tourists, also providing an internet café.
The lodge is focused on providing the best views of the crater floor, so is designed with many glass frontages, from which you can see leopards, lions, cheetah, elephants, rhino and wildebeest.
There is a restaurant and bar area with open fires, serving delicious cocktails and a wide variety of dishes.
Accommodation: The 97 rooms, six single and 91 double, all have queen sized beds, separate dressing area and glass fronted verandahs from which you can view the wildlife.
Our Opinion: It certainly is service with a smile at Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge. Comfortable, homely and welcoming, it comes with our recommendation.
