Pattaya hosts top class hotels, some of the best seafood restaurants in Thailand, a range of watersports and palm fringed beaches. The sights and sounds of this spectacular resort attract people from all walks of life, there are many shops, bars and restaurants which can only be rivalled by its capital, Bangkok.

From Pattaya you can experience the underwater world on a glass bottom boat.

Weather
Pattaya has three seasons – cool - November to February with temperatures ranging from 20 – 30C, there is very little rain at this time so it’s a good time of year to enjoy the sun. Hot - February to May with the occasional rain. With temperatures up to 40C, it can also be very humid at this time. Rainy – June to October - Temperatures can range between 25 – 35C but the sunshine comes with lots of rain at this time of year.
By Day
Pattaya has everything for sun lovers, fun lovers, water babies and party animals, not to mention sightseers and shoperholics! Sunny climates make it ideal for relaxing on its golden beaches and swimming in the clear waters. Pattaya also has one of the oldest diving centres in this part of Asia, a recommended dive site for experienced divers is the Hardeep, a 420 metre long ship that sank in 1942.
For something a bit more active you can try a bit of water skiing, tennis and Pattaya is also renowned for golf with plenty of courses to explore. Alternatively you can hire a bike to take in some sights and sounds of this colourful resort.

Pattaya’s nightlife can be anything you want it to be, cool and classy or bold and brassy, but it sure is colourful and vibrant. You can experience Thai entertainment ranging from cocktail lounges to gogo bars, disco’s to magical cabarets and not to mention the traditional Karaoke bars! There is a variety of good quality restaurants to choose from offering Thai and western cuisine.

• A day on Pattaya Beach - 4km long this pleasant beach faces Pattaya Bay, it is very popular with the locals and the visitors of Pattaya.
• A day on Jomtien Beach - Located 2km from south Pattay, It is a good place to people watch, hire a jet-ski or just chill out and have a Thai massage
• Koh Larn – Otherwise know as Coral Island, Koh Larn boasts beautiful white sandy beaches and is less than 8km west of Pattaya Beach. The best way to get there is by speed-boat, this will take around 20 minutes, and don’t forget to take a snorkel so you can explore the coral
• Visit the Tiger Zoo – A good day out, children would enjoy seeing the animals and watch the Elephant and crocodile show.
• A day trip to the underwater word – The largest and most modern ocean aquarium in Asia.
• Wat Phra Yai - Constructed in 1977 and the biggest Buddha image named ‘Phra Phuttha Sukhothai.
• Visit Pattaya Elephant Village and take an Elephant ride or watch how these amazing animals work and play.
• The Million Year stone park & and Crocodile farm, you can feed the crocodiles and watch them dancing in the show, (not for the faint hearted!)
• If you enjoy golf, there are many courses around Pattaya.
Events
Songkran – Thai traditional New Year 13th April 13 every year and lasts for 3 days.
Thailand's world-famous seaside resort puts on a fantastic festival for this annual event, Expect to see lots of flora floats, beauty contests and a spectacular firework display.
Local Flavours
Traditional Thai food is fresh, tasty and spicy. Throughout southern Thailand fresh seafood is served in a unique southern Thai style, they like to use plenty of herbs, garlic, chilli, lemon and lime. You can eat out for very little money, the average main course is approx £3 - £5. The local beer is Singha and costs about 30 - 50 pence a bottle in most places.

Shopping – Thai Silk, handcrafts, their own design of clothes and leather goods, with a choice of malls, superstores and not forgetting the open air markets you can find it all in Pattaya.
History
The Kingdom of Thailand was known until 1939 as ‘Siam’, a mysterious land full of wonder and amazement founded in the 13th century. The modern duty name for the Siamese people is ‘Thai’ meaning ‘Free’. Thailand has a colourful history and its people ancestry can be traced back to southern China when the Mongol hordes conquered the Chinese and the people migrated south. Thailand has a strong Buddhist influence which can be seen amongst the many breathtaking temples. The teachings of Buddha go some way to experiencing the culture of these laid back, friendly people.

Pattaya itself was once a small fishing village until a group of American servicemen discovered it in 1961, they had been serving in the Vietnam war and came to pattaya for some relaxation.

Pattaya is located on the eastern seaboard of the Gulf of Thailand approximately 90 miles from its city Bangkok, lying parallel to Sukhumvit Road on its east, with a 15 km long coastline on its west. Pattaya occupies an area of 208.1 sq km with a population of 72157.
