Location: Situated in NamibRand Nature Reserve, Wolwedans Dune Lodge is approximately a 100km drive from Windhoek.
Description: All manner of activities are available, to make the most of the desert surroundings. Guided walking trails and drives are on offer, or perhaps you’d rather view the scenery from the air, in a plane or even in a hot air balloon! Specific photography courses can be arranged and an intriguing new activity is being introduced – literally transporting your bed out into the dunes so you can literally sleep beneath the stars.
Open air living is very much promoted here. Completely rebuilt in 2003, the resort is designed to reflect a Bedouin-type style with open, tented rooms. There are two lounges, two dining rooms, decking, a wine cellar and a library. One of the highlights at Wolwedans is its swimming pool, suspended above the sand.
Accommodation: There are nine chalets, each with ensuite bathroom and private verandah. The sides of these chalets are tented and may be lifted up, bringing you closer to the outdoors, even while you’re asleep.
