Location: Twyfelfontein Country Lodge is situated approximately 100km west of Khorixas, in the Kunene region of Namibia. There is an airstrip within Twyfelfontein itself.
Description: An historic region of both national and international importance, Twyfelfontein has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visitors are amazed by the paintings and rock carvings still in existence today, created by Bushmen over two thousand years ago.
Prehistoric volcanoes also left their mark on the region, leaving behind numerous examples of extremely interesting rock formations.
Safaris, plane rides, nature drives, hiking and mountain biking are all popular activities here, with zebra, rhino, giraffes and elephants living in the vicinity.
Within the resort itself, there is a lounge, bar, open air dining room, swimming pool and guest shop. Evening entertainment is often provided by staff, who enjoy entertaining guests with traditional songs.
Accommodation: The 56 double guest rooms are all ensuite and come with a ceiling fan to disperse that hot desert air.
Our Opinion: Basic but friendly accommodation in a stunning setting. Ideally placed, only a short distance from the prehistoric carvings and paintings.
