Location: Namib Desert Lodge, in the Gondwana Namib Park, is situated 60km north of Sesriem, bordering the Namib Naukluft Park.
Description: Nestled at the foot of a stunning red sandstone cliff, shaded by palm trees, Namib Desert Lodge has two swimming pools, a bar and restaurant, although light lunches are only served by request.
Most guests tend to use the lodge solely as a base and hire a vehicle to explore the dunes. However, an evening dune trip and short hike can be arranged.
Accommodation: The 76 guest rooms are all ensuite, with several providing either family or single accommodation. All have air conditioning and mosquito netting.
Our Opinion: Although facilities at Namib Desert Lodge are limited, it makes a perfect stopover when touring the beautiful country of Namibia. Its magnificent setting makes it ideal for a relaxing short break.
