Location: Aberdare is around 180km from Nairobi, sited between the Aberdare mountain range and Mount Kenya.
Description: Treetops is perhaps most famous for its resident, Princess Elizabeth, who became Queen of England during her stay, due to the death of her father.
There are several viewing decks, so you don’t miss any of the wildlife in action, with elephants, buffalo and rhino in close proximity, so children under the age of five are not permitted.
For those of you who are worried about missing anything, don’t fear! The lodge even has its own optional buzzer system in your room, alerting you if something noteworthy is happening at the waterhole!
There are two bars offering refreshments from 3pm and a restaurant serves meals from 3.30pm onwards, with earlier meals being served nearby.
Accommodation: The rooms mainly consist of twins or triples, with limited suites available.
Our Opinion: Although not one of the more luxurious resorts, Treetops is full of character and history and is well worth a visit. After all, what’s good for royalty…
