Location: In the south east of Kenya, Sarova Salt Lick Game Lodge is around 200km (30 minutes flying time) from Mombasa.

The whole lodge is raised on stilts above watering holes and feeding grounds, giving you a bird’s eye view of what’s happening on the ground. If that wasn’t enough, there is an underground tunnel and bunker with ground level windows, so you can literally see eye to eye with the animals as they drink and feed.
The area itself is contained within a sanctuary and steps are taken to minimise any stress caused to the wildlife.
Game viewing and guided walks are obviously the main activity at the resort, but there is a swimming pool on your doorstep. Many couples also like to indulge in having picnics and meals out in the wilderness, which can be arranged.
The restaurant prides itself on using only the best ingredients, serving up African, Asian and European dishes.
Accommodation: All rooms are on two levels, with double, twin or triple beds. All have ensuite facilities and views of the watering holes.
Our Opinion: You’re unlikely to come into such close contact with the wildlife anywhere else! Luxury and access to wildlife – a winning combination. However, be warned that children under 8 are not permitted.
