Location: A five hour drive from Nairobi, Mara Sopa is well worth the journey, located on the picturesque slopes of the Oloongams Hills.
Description: Decorated in traditional style using local materials, Mara Sopa abounds with local culture and handicrafts.
Many activities are available, embracing the Masai way of life, with tribesmen taking guided tours around villages and giving cultural talks. Alternatively, you may wish to listen to a talk by the onsite naturist, go on a balloon safari or try your hand at mountain climbing! For the more sedate, a swimming pool and gift shop are located within the grounds.
There are three bars, one with its own viewing deck, so you can watch the animals scavenge the remains of your meal, should there be any left!
Accommodation: Standard rooms all come with double bed and mosquito net, ensuite bathroom, fireplace and verandah. Suites are more spacious and offer the added bonus of a minibar.
Our Opinion: Although lodges tend to be less luxurious than resort accommodation, the Mara Sopa Lodge offers an element of style and facilities not often found in this type of property. Beautifully presented, with your comfort in mind.
