Location: Only 50km from Mombasa, Msambweni Beach House & Villas is situated on Kenya’s south coast on a 700 foot long stretch of private beach. Msambweni itself is a small fishing village which still remains unspoilt by tourism.
Description: Situated on a cliff above the beach and surrounded by a coral wall for safety, this small, family-run establishment is absolutely breathtaking in its light, airy décor and top class facilities. Less of a resort and more of a private residence, accommodation is limited to ensure privacy, personal service and a feeling of luxury.
The star of Msambweni Beach House has to be its 25 metre infinity pool to keep even the most fanatical swimmers happy. Otherwise, you can lounge by the side, watching the sun go down whilst being served cocktails. It really is the stuff dreams are made of.
A nearby airstrip with daily flights can whisk you over the short distance to the Masai Mara or perhaps you may prefer visiting the Kisite Marine Park or watching the elephants in the Shimba Hills? Alternatively, a whole range of watersports are available, including snorkelling and kite surfing or you may fancy a round of golf at the nearby golf course instead? And, when you’re exhausted from energetic pursuits under the African sun, you can take advantage of a daily relaxation massage overlooking the Indian Ocean or have a manicure or pedicure.
The celebrity Belgian chef in charge of the team ensures that an exciting range of French, Belgian and Swahili dishes are always available, made with only the freshest produce available. Dine by the pool or even on the beach itself, where the only sound is the soothing waves, breaking on the shoreline.
Accommodation: Privacy is the theme of Msambweni Beach House, with only six rooms available and two villas in the grounds. Three of the rooms are extremely spacious and benefit from ensuite facilities, whilst the luxury tented room offers something a little bit special.
The villas have their own infinity swimming pools and Jacuzzi, looking out over the ocean. They benefit from a private chef and waiter.
Our Opinion: Resorts rarely come as exclusive as this. Elegant, sumptuous and luxurious, Msambweni Beach House and its villas really are a cut above.
