Location: Situated in the Holguin province on the eastern coast of Cuba, the Playa Pesquero is located right on the beach, only 20km from Guardalavaca and an hour from the airport.
Description: Cheerful and family-friendly, the Playa Pesquero is a large resort, although it does manage to retain an air of calm and relaxation, unlike many other holiday resorts.
The swimming pool here is one of the largest you’re likely to see, interspersed with several small islands, meaning you’ll never need to rush for a sun lounger.
There are both daytime and evening activity programmes incorporating scuba diving lessons, archery, aerobics and water polo, with a disco held every evening.
What makes this hotel truly stand out, however, are its choice of nine restaurants and six bars, so whether you are inclined towards a romantic Cuban meal with wine or a more lively tapas supper with potent cocktails, the Playa Pesquero can accommodate your requirements.
Accommodation: Rooms are spacious, with either two double or one king sized bed, air conditioning, ensuite bathroom and satellite TV. Suites come with the added benefit of a complimentary bottle of rum, candles, VIP minibar and extra space.
Our Opinion: Although perhaps not as luxurious as some of the other hotels in our Cuban collection, the Hotel Playa Pesquero is certainly comfortable, entertaining and has dining and leisure facilities which put many other hotels to shame. It makes a fantastic base from which to either explore Cuba or make the most of its beach location. A fantastic hotel for families with children.
